Hi, I’m Ashley and I want to be your photographer.
I grew up moving around and relying heavily on photographs to let me travel back to comfortable places. Seeing old friends that were half a world away always settled me when I would move. I learned the value of a memory well preserved. I gained the desire to give that to others when my first daughter was born. I yearned to remember and capture those smaller moments, tiny fingers and ringlet curls at the nape of her neck. I had always heard older people tell my parents that children grow so fast, one day you wake up and they’re adults, but I had never understood it until I had my girls. When the first one went to Kindergarten I remember sitting in my car, crying, wondering where the time went. I quickly rushed home to look at all the photographs, to find familiarity in the moments that were forever sealed in time. The pink striped shirt she wore her first day to pre-k, or the way her hair fell, just so lightly, in her face when she was 2.
I know the value in the preservation of not only photographs but in moments of time, and I want to share that with everyone. One day my girls will look back at their beaming faces on Halloweens and giggle about all the memories those tiny faces bring back; that is why I do what I do. It’s exactly why I want to be your photographer.
